FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – A woman’s car was stolen, but she called her family and they stopped the suspect from getting away.

Police said it happened Friday evening in Fayetteville after a woman parked her 2008 Ford Fusion at a convenience store and left it running.

Jermaine Abdul Bean, 32, of Fayetteville, allegedly saw the car still running and got in and drove off.

Police said the victim then called her family who lives near the area where the suspect was headed.

The victim’s family used another vehicle to block the suspect’s path and the suspect crashed into a home, according to police.

The suspect then tried to run off, but family members detained him until police arrived, according to authorities. Nobody inside the home the suspect crashed into was hurt.

Police said the suspect faces various charges including larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, hit and run and driving with a revoked license.

Bean is considered a suspect in additional business burglaries and additional charges will be forthcoming, according to Fayetteville police.
