RALEIGH, N.C. — A former North Carolina State University employee was arrested on multiple sex charges dating back to 2007, according to WNCN.

On Friday, Marvin Christopher Jones, 44, of Raleigh, was charged with first-degree sex offense with a child in January 2007, first-degree rape in January 2013 and indecent liberties with a child in January 2014.

N.C. State University officials told WNCN that Jones worked at the university in a maintenance role but noted that his charges were not related to any on-campus activity.

Officials did not say when Jones’ employment was terminated.

Jones’ mother told WNCN her son didn’t commit the crimes.

“There’s an ongoing thing with a family member, and I don’t know. Right now there’s allegations. I don’t know why he was charged with first-degree rape, he didn’t do it,” she told WNCN.

His three children are currently in the custody of child protective services.
