WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A well-known bar in downtown Winston-Salem is closing after more than three years of business.

The District Rooftop Bar & Grille announced on Facebook that they will close on Monday, but will remain open this weekend.

“It takes time, resources and a bit of luck to establish a restaurant. In our case it was just one winter season too many,” the Facebook post read.

The rooftop bar is at 770 Liberty View Court in the Downtown Arts District and provides a view of the downtown Winston-Salem skyline. It opened in 2011 and has an extensive menu.

Co-owner Mark Skoggard posted the announcement below to Facebook on Thursday. Several people commented on the post, expressing their condolences.
