GREENSBORO, N.C. — A child who drowned at a Greensboro marina Sunday night was last seen by someone more than 30 minutes before he died, police said Monday.

His family went to the Lake Townsend Marina at 6332 Townsend Road on Sunday for a gathering, said Greensboro police Lt. Jill Gladieux.

The family had been told by park officials not to go into the water, Gladieux said.

The family was fishing near the pier about 8:50 p.m. when some people realized the 4-year-old boy had not been seen for 30 to 45 minutes, according to Gladieux.
