North Carolina mother charged in death of 4-month-old son

CARY, N.C. – A North Carolina mother has been charged in connection to the death of her 4-month-old son, according to WRAL.

Shenequa Lashan Walker, 33, of Cary, was charged Sunday in connection to the death of “baby A.J.,” who was found unresponsive at the suspect’s home a few months ago.

The suspect faces charges of child abuse, willful act or omission causing serious bodily injury and involuntary manslaughter.

Paramedics found the victim unresponsive at the suspect’s home on March 3 after responding to her emergency call. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect said she woke up to her son not breathing, “looking coldish” and had blood coming from her nose, according to WRAL.

The victim’s name, a cause of death and other details surrounding the investigation have not been released. A Cary police official called the incident a tragedy.
