NC man accused of trying to offer children money to leave baseball field with him

James Raymond Gallagher, 55, of Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. — A 55-year-old North Carolina man is accused of trying to offer children money to leave a baseball field with him.

The Wilmington Star News reported that James Raymond Gallagher has been charged with felony abduction of children and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.

The suspect was charged Friday after authorities said he was trying to leaving the baseball field. He was pulled over after a fight between several adults, according to deputies.

The fight started after the suspect allegedly tried to entice children into his vehicle by offering them money, according to the paper.

The suspect has been released from jail on a $25,000 bail and has court planned on Monday.
