MOUNT AIRY, N.C. — No charges have been filed in connection with an accident earlier this month that claimed the life of Hassan Moore, according to the Mount Airy News.

The 15-year-old skateboarder died last week at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center from injuries sustained in a collision with a pickup truck on April 12.

The accident happened at Renfro and Oak streets at about 1:15 p.m.

Officers said it appeared Moore rolled through a stoplight and ran into a pickup.

“The result of our investigation, based on evidence at the scene and from interviews with witnesses, indicates for some reason, the skateboarder continued down Oak Street and into the intersection and hit the pick-up truck,” Mount Airy Police Department Capt. Alan Freeman told the Mount Airy News.

Freeman continued, saying it appeared to be an “unfortunate accident.” He also added that he is the father of a 15-year-old and “this is just devastating.”

Police have not released the name of the driver of the truck.
