HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Troopers with North Carolina State Highway Patrol are trying to retrace the final steps of Mario Mayorga before he was killed in a fatal crash Friday morning.

Troopers are still trying to piece together how Mayorga ended up walking in the middle Interstate 85 just before 1 a.m.

A law enforcement source tells FOX8 that the 19-year-old was last seen being put in a cab after hanging out Thursday night in downtown Greensboro.

A viewer tells FOX8 Mayorga had been at Limelight nightclub Thursday, which is also college night at the club.

On Saturday morning, Mayorga had been reported missing to High Point police.

Master Trooper Chris Knox says the teen died after walking into the path of a black pickup on I-85 near Groometown Road about eight miles from the school.

Hundreds of students showed up for a candlelight vigil Saturday night.

Friends also put flowers on the teen's car and painted a campus rock in his memory.

Knox says neither alcohol nor speeding were factors in the crash.

The driver of the pick-up truck will not face any charges.
