EDEN, N.C. — A moped driver was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after hitting an SUV on Highway 311.

The wreck happened when a mattress flew off the back of a vehicle near the Harry Davis Bridge.

The driver of a silver SUV stopped and put on their hazard lights.

That’s when a man on a moped drove straight into the silver SUV.

According to the trooper on the scene, the driver of the SUV was not at fault.

The moped driver was alert and responsive when he was taken to Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. There’s no word on what factors contributed to the accident.

The trooper went to the hospital to interview the moped driver.
