Rape charges against former UNC basketball player dropped
DURHAM, N.C. — Rape charges against former UNC basketball player Melvin Scott have been dropped.
Scott was charged late last year with second degree rape in an alleged incident involving a female acquaintance who according to police was “mentally incapacitated and physically helpless.”
However, the Durham district attorney confirms that all charges have been dropped.
Scott played four years at Carolina and was a member of the 2005 national championship team.
