ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. -- Fire officials in Alamance County ruled arson as the cause of a fire that destroyed a home in Burlington on Thursday.
No arrests have been made in the crime.
Fire crews fought the flames for almost 40 minutes.
The burned down home is located on Monroe Holt Road.
Investigators believe some type of accelerant was used because the flames consumed the house in just a few minutes.
The fire was started inside the home, according to officials.
The house had been vacant for years following a basement fire about a decade ago. Since then it was boarded up.
Fire crews say the home was sold this past year and a for sale sign had recently been put on display.
Fire officials are asking for drivers who took photos of the fire early on before crews got there to pass those images along to the Alamance County Sheriff's department.
