GREENSBORO, N.C. — A 75-year-old motorcyclist has died after his motorcycle collided with a guardrail Friday afternoon in Greensboro, according to police.

Joseph Allen Snell was riding his 2005 Harley Davidson I-40 eastbound when traffic suddenly slowed shortly before 2:30 p.m., according to police.

Police said Snell made an emergency maneuver to avoid nearby vehicles, causing his motorcycle’s rear wheel to lock. His motorcycle then slid off the right side of the road and collided with the guardrail, police said.

Snell suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at Moses Cone Hospital. The crash is being investigated by the Greensboro Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.
