Police investigate Easter morning murder-suicide in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are trying to determine what caused a man to kill a woman before taking his own life in east Charlotte Easter morning.

Investigators said 27-year-old Cameron Phillips shot and killed 29-year-old Alisa Mackey at her home on Perth Court around 10:30 a.m.

Police said paramedics took Mackey to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Officers later cornered Phillips inside an apartment they said he fled to about two miles away.
