Woman charged in robbery of 2 Rockingham County businesses

EDEN, N.C. — Police arrested a Mayodan woman who is allegedly responsible for robberies in Eden and Reidsville.

Mary Ann Day, 35, was arrested and charged with two counts of felony robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Day’s charges stem from two different robberies.

Police responded to a call around 4:30 a.m. Saturday at the Wal-Mart located at 1624 NC Highway 14 in Reidsville.

The suspect was said to be carrying a gun.

On Sunday, police received a report about a woman walking into the Sheetz, located at 102 N. Van Buren Road, in Eden, and saying she had a gun.

Police sent out an alert with a description of the suspect and the vehicle she was driving to other law enforcement agencies in the area.

About 20 minutes later Officer Josh Cayton with Stoneville Police Department stopped a vehicle matching the description.

Day’s bail was set at $150,000 and her court date is scheduled for April 8 for the Eden incident.

She was given an additional $100,000 secured bail and a court date of March 28 for the incident in Reidsville.
