Body found at Danville house fire; incident being investigated as homicide

DANVILLE, Va. — A house fire in Danville on Sunday afternoon is being investigated as a homicide, according to police.

The Danville Fire Department responded at 4 p.m. to a fire at a home in the 100 block of Wood Avenue Extended where they found an unresponsive adult in the blaze.

The identity of the victim has not been released. Firefighters pulled the body out and discovered trauma wounds suggesting that homicide was the cause of death.

The fire was brought under control at approximately 4:30 p.m., according to officials.

The body will be sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke for an autopsy, according to police.
