3 in High Point charged with armed robbery of student; police searching for 2 others

HIGH POINT — Three High Point teens were charged with armed robbery and police are searching for two others in connection with the crime.

The 18-year-old victim, Tristin Panuelo, told police he was walking home from school around 12:50 p.m. Tuesday on the 300 block of Kennedy Avenue when he heard a vehicle approaching from behind.

The vehicle stopped and four of Panuelo’s acquaintances began assaulting him.

One of the suspects pulled out a firearm and threatened the victim. The group stole Panuelo’s cell phone and fled the scene.

Five suspects were involved in the robbery, but so far only three have been arrested.

High Point police arrested:

  • Heather Nicole Rothrock, 18
  • Stephen Joseph Uria, 18 (previously listed as Matthew Gomez, an alias)
  • Rossario Tharrell Stewart II, 17

All are charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. Police are still searching for Brandon Alvarez Mejia, 17, also of High Point, according to a press release.
