Police identify driver in hit and run on High Point Road in Greensboro
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro police have identified the driver of a vehicle that fled the scene of a four-vehicle crash on Sunday.
Jose Serafin Lopez Romero, 22, was identified as the driver of the Nissan Pathfinder that was travelling westbound on High Point Road when it sideswiped one vehicle, rear-ended another vehicle, overturned several times, and struck another vehicle head-on.
Witnesses reported that Romero fled the scene on foot.
Martha Hooks Hobbs, 66, was the driver of the vehicle that was rear-ended.
She sustained serious injuries during the crash and remains hospitalized in critical condition.
The driver of the sideswiped vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
No one else involved in the crash reported injuries.
Police later located Romero and took him to Greensboro Jail Central after he was treated for his injuries.
Romero was charged with driving while impaired and felony hit-and- run.
He is being held on a $10,000 secured bond.
The crash is still under investigation.
