NC man shoots, kills intruder after home invasion

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — Catawba deputies said a man shot an intruder in his home north of Claremont Monday, WSOC reported.

The homeowner was upstairs asleep at the time when he heard a noise downstairs, officials said. He grabbed a shotgun and went to investigate.

Deputies said that the person who broke into the home died on the way to the hospital from a gunshot wound.

Officials are searching for a second person who also broke into the man’s home. The person ran off when shots were fired, officials said.
