‘Fifty Shades’ merchandise slinking off Piedmont store shelves
GREENSBORO, N.C. — If there are “Fifty Shades of Grey,” then there are just as many ways to make money off what has become a commercial craze, the News & Record reported.
There’s nail polish, aptly named “My Silk Tie” and “Dark Side of the Mood,” being sold in local beauty departments alongside the “Tease Me” lip sets.
There’s the “No Peeking” blindfold set and “Sensual Touch” massage oil sold at Target, of all places.
And then there’s the bookstores, some of which have seen renewed interest from customers in the book that sparked the movie that hits theaters this weekend just in time for Valentine’s Day.
“It’s done so well that we sell it out as fast as we can possibly get it,” said Paul Toponce, the general manager of Edward McKay Used Books and More on Battleground Avenue.
