CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies in Caldwell County are investigating an unusual robbery involving an ice cream truck.

Wally Rivera, the driver of the ice cream truck, said he was robbed by a woman holding a machete after being punched by a man inside his truck.

According to deputies, Rivera had his phone, necklace and other items stolen after stopping to sell ice cream near Lenoir. Rivera said he has been selling ice cream for seven years and has never had something like this happen before.

“She opened this door. She had a big machete and pushed the machete toward me,” Rivera said. “The other guy hit me in my mouth.”
