THOMASVILLE, N.C. — A driver was airlifted to the hospital after a multi-vehicle accident in Thomasville overnight.

The wreck happened around 10 p.m. at the intersection of East Sunrise Avenue and County Line Road.

Police said a car drove through the intersection without looking and crashed.

A truck swerved to miss the car, then hit a street sign and an electric pole. The truck then ended up deep in a field.

The driver of the car was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries. Police suspect the driver of the white car was intoxicated.

The driver of the truck was also taken to the hospital, but both are expected to be okay.
