Several new breweries open or announce plans to open in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Calder Preyer said he had wanted to be a brewer since he was a 21-year-old backpacking in the Czech Republic, a country with a long beer history, according to the Greensboro News & Record.

Back home in the United States, the craft beer revolution had been going on for a long time. It had caught on in North Carolina, Preyer said, but not as quickly in Greensboro.

Until now. Within the past year, several new breweries have opened or announced plans to open in Greensboro.

People such as Preyer — who is opening Preyer Brewing Co. in the spring with his wife, Nicole, and extended family — have watched the beer culture blossom in the city and are capitalizing on it. Their goal: Make Greensboro a destination for craft beer lovers.
