What are the 10 best colleges in North Carolina? USA Today recently published a list, citing rankings by College Factual.com.

The list puts Duke University in Durham at the very top, saying that the school ranks among the top five schools in the country.

“The university boasts ten schools and colleges and is particularly known for its strong medical programs,” the article said about Duke. “Cross registration among these schools and colleges allows students to take classes in a variety of disciplines and gain a comprehensive education.”

Duke was followed by Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, Davidson College in Davidson, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Elon University.

The article said the following about No. 2 Wake Forest:

“The university offers small class sizes due and has a low student to faculty ratio which means students have the opportunity to work closely and collaboratively with professors, especially on research projects. Wake Forest also has an excellent freshman retention rate.”
