Police investigating hit-and-run in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police in Winston-Salem responded to a report of a hit-and-run early Friday morning.

The accident happened on the 2000 block of Thurmond Street.

A red truck hit a gas meter and then fled the scene.

The Winston-Salem Fire Department and Piedmont Natural Gas responded and secured the gas leak.

The hit-and-run is still under investigation.
