GREENSBORO, N.C -- Atlanta developer Halpern Development Company filed an amendment to the Greensboro Zoning Commission to include a residential section.
With a fee of $1,500, the amendment application is in regard to the 6.77 acre space on the corner of Hobbs Road and Friendly Avenue.
The residential space on the map spans 1.4 acres noting the area will not exceed 45 units.
Halpern Development Company's Greensboro Attorney Tom Terrell, Jr. said that the residential space will "most likely feature condominiums for sale not for rent."
One nearby resident, Greg Bowman, said that no matter the change, he feels as though the fight against commercial rezoning should continue.
"We should keep it residential and there are plenty other areas that you can do building and modifications to old retail spaces," Bowman said.
The Zoning Commission will review the revised plan by the developer at the meeting March 9.
