Kansas man writes letter to Santa and receives Christmas miracle
TOPEKA, Kan. — After losing his job, Rex Foote couldn’t afford presents for his grand kids this Christmas.
“I didn’t have the money to buy them any presents. If anyone could be down at the bottom without living in the Mission or being out on the street, I’m down there,” says Rex.
According to WIBW, he wrote a letter to Santa Claus that read “this would be a bad year for Christmas for us. Hope you can help.”
He mailed the letter to the US Postal Office and addressed it to Santa Claus. An anonymous person from the Post Office sent it to the Topeka Rescue Mission and Barry Feaker opened it up.
“So, opened it up and there was a letter to ‘Dear Santa’ and it was from a 63-year-old gentleman who was asking for some gifts from Santa Claus for his grand kids. It reminded us of Miracle on 34th Street,” says Feaker, Topeka Rescue Mission.
On Christmas Eve, Santa Claus and his helpers are creating a Miracle on Logan Street.
“We are! We get the great pleasure, surprising somebody, just beyond their wildest imagination!” says Santa Claus.
“Hey Rex Merry Christmas! We got some gifts and some food for you. Merry Christmas,” says Santa Claus as he shakes Rex’s hand and gives him a warm hug.
Santa’s helpers brought him many gifts for his grandchildren, turkey ham and all the fixings for dinner just in time for Christmas.
“I’m happy, I’m really happy. That’s one reason why I’m crying and emotional, like I am, because what is happening today is real. I mean its not a dream and you know, I can wake up and see its still there and I could go to my kids let them see they are going to have a Christmas by their grandpa,” cries Rex.
