ASHEVILLE, N.C. — The pastor and congregation of an Asheville church are praying for the safe return of a key part of their nativity.

According to WSOC, the pastor said someone stole the baby Jesus from the display just over a week ago.

This isn’t the first incident at Trinity Baptist Church. About three years ago, the words on the sign out front were rearranged to spell out an inappropriate phrase.

The pastor said the price tag for the nativity ran in the thousands. For now, a lamb will take the place of baby Jesus.
