ASHEBORO, N.C. — A taxi driver reported to Asheboro Police Friday night that when he told a passenger the fare for her six-hour ride from Virginia was $600, she pulled a gun on him and fled, according to The Courier-Tribune.

Police were on the scene within two minutes of the 911 call — and less than a minute after being dispatched — but they could not find her.

The taxi driver told officers that he picked up the woman in Virginia and they arrived at her destination in Asheboro — near the intersection of South Park Street and Wainman Avenue — shortly before 10 p.m.
