HIGH POINT, N.C. -- We've seen so much generosity here at FOX8 from viewers who are dropping off gifts for Gifts for Kids. One gift-giving viewer really stood out today because he is only 5 years old and had to come up with some serious selflessness to give his gift.

Gabe Ortega scours his parents' cars and couches all year long looking for stray change. He then puts it in a giant jar labeled "Gabe's Gift Giving Fund." In the weeks before Christmas, he empties his jar and buys gifts for kids who might not otherwise get presents this year.

It's a tradition his grandmother, Susan Langille, started with him two years ago. "He helps roll the money, take them to the bank, then he chooses if he wants to buy food or toys. We even let him pay for it at the store. We think it's important he knows that giving is the right thing to do."

Gabe picked out a Bumblebee Transformer to give, because that's his favorite toy, but later had a tough time actually giving it away.

"He's a big fan of the Bumblebee Transformer, so for him to have it in his hands, it's hard for him to actually hand it over," laughed his dad, Jesse Ortega.

Gabe ended up happily and willingly giving his gifts and said giving them made him feel good.
