2 arrested for armed robbery of Asheboro business

ASHEBORO, N.C. — Two men are in custody in connection with the robbery of an Asheboro business.

Scott Daniel Cook, 23, of Randleman, and Brantley Wayne Hicks, 25, of Ramseur, are both charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. Hicks is additionally charged with failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

On Sunday at 3:22 p.m. one of the men allegedly entered the Quik Chek, located at 527 Old Liberty Road, armed with a handgun and demanded money.

He escaped in a vehicle driven by the other man.

Asheboro police officers initiated an investigation and developed a number of workable leads. Off duty personnel were called in to assist with the case and subsequently two persons of interest were identified.

Cook and Hicks were taken into custody.

Cook is being held under a $100,000 secured bond. Hicks is being held under a $250,000 secured bond.
