FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — Police said a Winston-Salem man died Thursday night after being injured in a two-car collision in the 100 block of Linville Road.

Police said La Montaye Santez Rice, 36, of Winston-Salem, died at the scene of the crash, which happened near Linville and Old Linville roads.

Police said Rice was driving a 2001 Honda in the northbound lane at 10:18 p.m. when he crossed over a double yellow line and his vehicle collided with a 2005 Nissan pickup being driven by Antonio Cuevas Garcia, 24, of the 200 block of Trent Street in Kernersville.

Police said Garcia was not hurt. A 25-year-old passenger in the pickup was taken to Forsyth Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police said officers are conducting an investigation into the collision. It remains uncertain why Rice crossed into the southbound lane.

This is the 16th traffic fatality in Winston-Salem this year compared with 15 at the same time in 2013.
