RALEIGH, N.C. – One person was killed and at least four hurt when a pedestrian bridge under construction on Wake Tech’s Northern Wake Campus collapsed Thursday morning, according to WTVD-TV.

Emergency crews are on the scene in the 7000 block of Success Way. Authorities said all of the people hurt were construction workers who were pouring concrete at the time.

They were rushed to the hospital. Names of the victims have not been released.

The bridge is part of Wake Tech’s two-year expansion project with funds from Wake County’s 2012 bond referendum. The project includes new buildings, a parking deck, and two pedestrian bridges.
