GREENVILLE, S.C. – A North Carolina-area gospel singer is accused of soliciting sex from an undercover officer posing as an underage boy.

WLOS-TV reported that Joseph Martin Trusty, 47, of Greenville, S.C., faces charges of soliciting underage sex.

An undercover Greenville County Sheriff’s Deputy, posing as a teenager, had a sexual conversation with Trusty through email on Tuesday, according to the arrest affidavit.

Trusty allegedly thought the undercover sheriff’s deputy was a 15-year-old male and agreed to meet up for sex in Greenville County.

“I’m shocked. I don’t know what to feel right now. I just can’t believe it,” one of Trusty’s neighbors told News 13. “He’s a family man. (He) went to church on Sundays. His kids are great.”

Trusty remains in the county detention center on a $20,000 bond, according to deputies.
