GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro police said a man was killed after a car and tractor-trailer collided in a wrong-way crash on Saturday morning.

Darrick Argle Unique Whitfield, 29, of Greensboro, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

Whitfield had been driving a 2006 Lexus ES330 east in the westbound travel lanes of I-40W/Bus85S and collided with a 2004 Freightliner tractor trailer, according to police.

Police said the tractor-trailer was headed westbound and was driven by Harold Mitchell Doster Jr., 45, of Charlotte.

Whitfield suffered fatal injuries as a result of the wreck, according to Greensboro police. Police have not said why he was driving the wrong way.

Authorities said the wreck is currently being investigated by the Greensboro Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit.
