BOONVILLE, N.C. -- A Starmount Middle School teacher has been arrested after having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Elizabeth Lorraine Brown, 25, of State Road, N.C., had been in contact with a student for several months and had sent several photographs to the student that were erotic or pornographic in nature, according to the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office.

On Oct. 10, the sheriff's office received a report from the Yadkin County School System referencing concerns about the teacher.  School personnel reported seeing adult pornographic images on the student's cell phone. Brown was suspended without pay on Oct. 13.

Brown was arrested on Oct. 29 and charged with nine counts of disseminating obscene material to a minor under the age of 16.  Brown was released after posting a $14,000 secured bond.  Her court date is set for Nov. 5.
