GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Guilford County Sheriff deputy that struck and killed a pedestrian Saturday morning has been placed on administrative leave.

Deputy P. Lowe struck an unidentified woman in the 5000 block of Burlington Road at about 2:49 a.m., according to authorities.

Lowe has been with the sheriff’s office for a little more than a year, Maj. Jonathan Jacobs told the Greensboro News & Record.

Jacobs would not say exactly where Lowe hit the woman on the four-lane road.

Greensboro police Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the wreck.

“I can’t tell you anything other than it’s an unidentified woman that was involved,” Jacobs said.

Susan Danielsen, spokeswoman for the Greensboro police, said she has not heard back from the investigating detective.

Police are asking the public to help identify the victim.

Officials said she was an African American woman about 5’10” tall and weighing between 180-200 pounds. Her age is estimated between 45-60 years old.

Authorities said she has no scars, tattoos, or identifying marks and had short hair. She was wearing a black sweater shirt and blue jeans.
