McMINNVILLE, Tenn. -- A 7-year-old girl died less than five hours after visiting the dentist for a routine procedure.
According to WSMV, medical records show that a dentist extracted three teeth from Tyneisha Bell's mouth on Oct. 7. A general anesthesia was used to put her to sleep.
Bell's grandparents signed a consent form acknowledging the use of anesthesia and several possible side effects.
Less than five hours later, the child was dead.
Other than asthma, Bell did not suffer from serious medical conditions. But after Bell was put to bed later that day, she stopped breathing.
Paramedics said Bell's skin was pinkish, warm and dry. Her larynx was swollen.
Bell was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
No lawsuits have been filed against the dentist's office yet.
Investigators have almost completely ruled out child abuse as a cause of death.
