According to a new ranking by Washington Monthly, Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh ranks as one of the worst colleges in America.

“The simplest way to define a bad college is as a place that charges students large amounts of money, probably financed by debt they cannot afford, to receive an education so terrible that most students drop out before graduation,” Washington Monthly said of their ranking.

Weighing four factors equally — net price, average student debt, default rate and graduation rate — SAU ranked as the fourth worst college in the country.

Weighing graduation rate higher than the other three factors, SAU ranked as the worst college in America.

“We set out to make a list of the poorest-performing colleges. What we found is that, while good schools are basically all alike, every crappy school is crappy in its own way,” Washington Monthly said.

SAU was incorporated in 1867 by Episcopal priests.
