Victim identified in fatal Randolph Co. multiple-vehicle crash

RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — A woman who died as a result of a multiple-vehicle car crash in Randolph County Saturday has been identified.

The collision happened at 9:23 a.m. on southbound I-85.

Troopers say a disabled mini van was on the left shoulder of the highway on the median side when a Chevy pick-up truck being driven by Richard Mobley, 55, of Greensboro, slowed down in the middle lane to 20 mph.

A Volkswagen being driven by Graham Davis of South Carolina was behind the Chevy was forced to slow down, which caused a motorcycle to slam into the Volkswagen from behind.

Both people on the motorcycle were thrown from the bike.

The passenger on the bike, 49-year-old Lisa Motley of Archdale, died at the scene. The motorcyclist, 50-year-old Scott Motley, remains in the hospital.

A Ford pick-up behind the motorcycle also crashed, when the driver David Stacy of Archdale veered to the left to avoid the bike and hit the Chevy pick-up truck.

I-85 was closed for approximately seven hours while troopers investigated.

No charges have been filed at this time.
