Fire captain in Charlotte accused of stealing meds while on duty
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A fire captain in Charlotte is accused of stealing prescription drugs from a patient while he was assisting Medic with a call.
WSOC-TV reported that 49-year-old Charlie David Morris Jr. has been charged with misdemeanor larceny after allegedly taking seven Dilaudid prescription pills from a man’s home.
Authorities said the suspect took the drugs while responding to a call at a home on Broken Pine Lane in Charlotte on Tuesday. Morris was working as a captain with the Charlotte Fire Department.
Police in Charlotte started investigating after being notified of the incident, according to authorities.
Detectives obtained a warrant on Morris for misdemeanor larceny and earlier Friday afternoon, Morris voluntarily turned himself in to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending.
