HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Police are trying to find out who impersonated a United States soldier and talked a woman out of more than a $140,000.
WSOC is reporting that the impersonator started a relationship with a woman on the dating website, match.com.
It was reported that the man went by the name, Thomas Peichert.
Through email conversations, the man told the woman he was stationed in Afghanistan but could finish his assignment at Fort Bragg if she wired him money.
The woman sent the money to bank accounts in foreign countries with the promise he would pay her back.
Police are using information from the Yahoo email address Peichert used to try and track him down.
