DURHAM, N.C. — A driverless car caused a crash in Durham, resulting in two people being thrown from a truck, according to the officials.

WTVD-TV reported that part of N.C. Highway 55 in Durham was shut down for two hours Thursday afternoon because of the crash.

Police said an unoccupied car parked in a convenience store parking lot somehow went out of gear and rolled down a hill onto Highway 55.

The driverless car then crashed into a northbound work truck, according to authorities. Officials said two people in the truck were ejected and suffered serious injuries.

The road has since reopened.
