ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. – Rockingham County deputies say thieves have broken into three homes and 14 vehicles since Tuesday night, taking tools, a camera and even a wedding ring.

Gina Rintelmann’s Mayodan home was one of them.

“I know they got my wedding ring, my wedding band, a sapphire bracelet, and diamond earrings and necklace, and my camera,” said Gina Rintelmann.

The thieves kicked in their back doors which were deadbolted. They also got away with her 15-year-old’s summer stash.

“She babysat all summer to buy school clothes and we did just spent some of it at the beach, but we were going this weekend to buy some more. It was a lot of money to her,” explains Rintelmann.

Since the beginning of August, there have been 18 reported vehicle break-ins in the Oregon Hill community.

Starling Gunn’s truck was broken into early Wednesday morning. Thieves took tools worth thousands of dollars.

“(I’m) very, very angry. I don’t really like it at all. I worked hard for what I’ve got,” explains Starling Gunn, who had tools taken from his truck.

Rockingham County sheriff’s deputies are planning to step up their patrols in the area.
