RV overturns in Winston-Salem after driver blacks out
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — An RV overturned in Winston-Salem on Sunday afternoon after the driver blacked out, causing some lanes to temporarily close down, according to officials.
Authorities said it happened shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday on I-40 Eastbound at mile marker 190, closing two of three lanes.
The right two lanes near Hanes Mall Boulevard were closed for a few hours, but have since reopened.
Officials said the driver blacked out after being in some kind of pain. His son-in-law, a volunteer firefighter, reportedly gave him CPR. The victim said he was returning from a tubing trip.
The driver’s wife tried to take control of the wheel after the driver blacked out, according to officials. Both were taken to the hospital and are expected to be released.
