WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Winston-Salem police are investigating a case of vehicle tampering, officials said late Friday.

The Winston-Salem Journal reports that a car was taken to dealership in Kernersville to be checked for a mechanical problem Friday afternoon.

While the vehicle was being serviced, evidence of the tampering was found.

Authorities did not say what had been done to the vehicle, citing the nature of the investigation.

Neither the owner of the vehicle nor the dealership was identified.

Police and the bomb squad were called to investigate and the vehicle has been rendered safe, police said.

The tampering appears to be an isolated incident.

No further information was available.
