FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Cumberland County deputy shot in the line of duty is now out of the hospital.

WTVD-TV reported that 25-year-old Joshua LaFave is recovering at home after being seriously injured on July 30.

He was one of four deputies injured in the shooting and was the most seriously hurt.

Authorities say Jay Michaels shot up his in-laws’ mobile home, killing a 10-year-old boy and his grandfather. Michaels died shortly after a shootout with deputies.
