WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — An Atlanta fitness club chain is prepping to enter an increasingly crowded Winston-Salem marketplace for around-the-clock workout centers, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
Workout Anytime plans to open a 7,000-square-foot center on Sept. 15 at 580 Hanes Mall Blvd., suite 24, in Pavilions Shopping Center, Wade Harvey, the chain’s developer for North Carolina, said Wednesday.
It would be the chain’s third center in North Carolina, joining centers in Cary and Greensboro. Harvey sold the Greensboro franchise to a business partner. The company has more than 50 sites nationwide, mostly in the Southeast.
There are at least four other 24/7 fitness centers in Forsyth including Kraze Fitness Center, The Rush/Gold’s Gym, Planet Fitness and Fitness 2000.
Harvey said he believes Workout Anytime differentiates itself from the competition because of its low monthly membership fee of $15, no contracts and offering new Matrix fitness equipment and free weight stations.
“We believe we provide a premium service for the lowest cost possible,” Harvey said. “We have to deliver since we have to earn our business month after month.”
The center will have staff available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Other amenities include tanning beds and a hydro massage bed.
“We typically get members from their early 20s to way up in age,” Harvey said.
Depending on the success of the Hanes Mall center, Harvey said he could open up to four centers in Forsyth over the next two years.
