Family Dollar in Burlington robbed

BURLINGTON, N.C. — The Maple Avenue Family Dollar in Burlington was robbed at gunpoint Thursday night.

At approximately 9:50 pm., officers with the Burlington Police Department responded to Family Dollar, located at 2204 Maple Ave. in reference to an armed robbery. Officers arrived and met with the clerk who stated a man entered the business and displayed a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from the register.

The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 6′ tall, slim build, wearing dark clothing and a dark shirt around his face. The suspect left the store on foot in an unknown direction of travel with an undisclosed amount of money.

Elon Police K-9 assisted with the investigation. There were no injuries reported during the robbery.
