Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts cold, snowy winter for NC

This winter is going to be colder than usual and next summer will be hotter than normal, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

The 223-year-old almanac is predicting a “super cold” winter for the eastern two-thirds of the United States.

“Colder is just almost too familiar a term,” Editor Janice Stillman told the Associated Press. “Think of it as a refriger-nation.”

“Colder than normal” is about 2 to 5 degrees below normal temperatures.

For the Southeast:

“Winter will be colder and drier than normal, with near- to above-normal snowfall. The coldest periods will be in early to mid-December, from late December through early January, and in mid- and late January. The snowiest periods will be in early and mid-January.”

The forecast also calls for next summer to be hotter and drier than normal.
