GREENSBORO, N.C. — More than 700 third-graders in Guilford County Schools had to attend camps this summer to get extra help with reading, according to the News & Record.
They had six weeks to get intense, targeted help. Then they had to try again to pass a state test.
But for most that didn’t happen.
By the end of the camps, more than three-quarters — 622 students — still didn’t make the grade.
